Serbia v Ghana

Two teams with strong hopes of reaching the Second Round at the very least and it will be very important for either team's hopes that this game doesn't end up a draw, as that might be enough to give the other two Group D sides the edge.

Serbia are ranked seventeen places higher in the FIFA rankings (15th) than Ghana and they will be expecting to pick up the three points but could playing in Africa give Ghana the edge?

BACK SERBIA TO BEAT GHANA

Many punters make Serbia their outside bet for the World Cup and if they are live up to that sort of hype then they will need to be beating Ghana here. Serbia have many players in their squad representing the major teams in Europe and the one standout player for Ghana, Michael Essien, has been ruled out through injury so Ghana's chances in this game may now be gone. When comparing the two line ups it seems quite a shock that you can get odds against on Serbia picking up three points and that looks a good bet.

Serbia v Ghana Asian Handicap Odds

Asian Handicap odds are often more competitive than standard match odds as the weaker side is usually given a head start to make the two teams more evenly matched.

BACK UNDER 2.5 GOALS AND A 1-0 WIN FOR SERBIA

Serbia were neither high or low scorers in their World Cup qualifying group, they scored twenty two goals in ten games and conceded eight goals. Four of the games they played in had under 2.5 goals whilst six had overs so their games clearly can go either way, against low scoring teams their games should be low scoring and against high scoring teams they should be realtively high scoring.

Ghana usually have a strong defence and that was shown in their World Cup qualifying campaign, they conceded just three goals in their final six games of their qualifying group, with no out and out scorers they know their best chance of success comes from conceding as few goals as possible.

Serbia's games against higher scorers are likely to have over 2.5 goals but as this is against one of the lower scorers it looks good value to be under 2.5 goals. That is the best bet in the goals markets but another good bet is a 1-0 win for Serbia, they are unlikely to break down the Ghana defence too many times and it is difficult seeing who is capable of scoring for Ghana.

Serbia v Ghana Player Odds

Pick a player to score the first goal, to score the last goal or to score anytime during the match. Pay close attention to the latest team news before placing your bets on these markets.

Serbia v Ghana Team News

Serbia have many top players at their disposal, the most important of which could be the likes of Nemanja Vidic, Branislav Ivanovic, veteran midfielder Dejan Stankovic and man mountain goalscorer Nikola Zigic, all will need to be fit for this game for Serbia to be at their best. Ghana have lost their most influential player by a distance as Michael Essien is injured and misses the World Cup.

BACK MILAN JOVANOVIC TO SCORE FIRST AGAINST GHANA

With Serbia expected to pick up the only goal of the game it looks like we just have to find Serbia's most likely scorer and back him to score first for a profitable bet and it has to be their top goalscorer in qualifying who makes most appeal and that was Milan Jovanovic. The Serbian striker scored five goals in eight games which is a great retrun considering games against France and Romania made up those eight matches. Ghana's Matthew Amoah had a good record in qualifying with five goals in seven games, if you really fancied Ghana you could back him to score first.

Serbia v Ghana Half Time Odds

Back the half time "result" or a combination of the half time and full time results. A great way to increase the odds compared with the standard 90 minute match odds.

BACK DRAW /SERBIA IN THE HALF TIME / FULL TIME BETTING

With only one goal expected in this match this market makes plenty of appeal as a good betting medium as we only have to decide if the goal comes in the first half or the second half. Considering Ghana conceded just once in the first half of their most recent six games in qualifying they should be able to hold out until the second half against Serbia, who scored more second half goals than first half goals in their most recent six qualifying games.

Serbia v Ghana Best Bet

Even if Ghana were to win this game, it is difficult to see them being involved in a high scoring game and it is difficult to see there even being two goals in this match, never mind three. With that in mind the best bet on Serbia v Ghana is under 2.5 goals.
